Lynch Family Foundation Donates 1800 Pounds of Hams to NEI Food Bank

Waucoma, Iowa (October 29, 2024)

The Lynch Family Foundation, the non-profit extension of Lynch Family Companies,  donated 1800 pound of hams to the NEI Food Bank located in Waterloo, IA.   The food bank has an annual holiday distribution event and this year hopes to serve 4,000 households during Thanksgiving.

“Food insecurity remains an ongoing issue and worry in many households across the state of Iowa and in our local  communities.”  stated Melissa Looney, Lynch Family Foundation Coordinator. “The Lynch Family Foundation strongly believes in supporting our food pantries and food banks all year long, and are happy to  provide much needed protein to those in need this holiday season.”

During the Covid pandemic in 2020, the country saw an increase in households in need of food assistance and in answer, the Lynch Family Foundation in partnership with Lynch Family Companies substantially stepped up their pork donations.  By the end of 2024, they will have donated almost 500,000 lbs of pork to local food pantries and state food banks and will continue their effort to increase donations in the years to come. “We are so grateful to the Lynch Family Foundation for their generous support of our upcoming Holiday  Distribution,” said Barbara Prather, Executive Director of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. “Their kindness helps ensure that families in need will have a warm, nourishing meal this Thanksgiving, and it’s a beautiful reminder of the power of community and compassion during the holiday season."
