Lynch Family Companies Partners with Local Businesses and Pork Producers to Provide Lunch for Flood Relief Volunteers
Lynch Family Companies joined other pork producers in the area to host a large free pork loin lunch event on Thursday, June 27, for volunteers leading cleanup efforts after devastating floods in northwest Iowa.
The pork producer’s team of 30 volunteers traveled to Rock Valley and Hawarden, Iowa, with cooking trailers while the communities worked tirelessly to clear trash and debris. Lynch Family Companies also enlisted the help of their subsidiaries, GJL Farms and Premium Iowa Pork, which donated 1,000 pounds of pork loin for the meal.
Lynch Family Companies also partnered with several other businesses to organize the event, including Proven Swine Management, Cooperative Farmers Elevator, Boehringer Ingelheim, Silver Dollar Saloon, Dosto Farms, DS Consulting Services and Hy-Vee. Together, they donated over 4,000 bottles of water, 4,800 buns, 3,000 fruit snacks, 3,000 bags of potato chips, 3,000 BBQ sauce packets and 3,000 to-go containers for the lunch. Lynch volunteers used these donations to feed over 4,000 volunteers from these northwest Iowa communities.
“We are proud to do our part to provide some relief to these communities in their time of need,” said Russ Bohach of Lynch Family Companies. “Thanks to the generous donations of our partners, we were able to provide a quality meal to the volunteers who are working hard and serving their community.”
Since the June 20-23 weekend, over 20 counties in northwest Iowa have been impacted by historic flooding after heavy rainfall caused multiple rivers to overflow. Hundreds of houses in Sioux County alone have flooded, and many residents have found themselves without access to electricity or basic necessities – like clean water.
“Serving our communities has always been the driving force of everything we do,” said Gary Lynch, chairman of Lynch Family Companies. “Supporting the areas where Lynch employees live and work, especially in times of crisis – it’s just what we do.”
