The Lynch Family Foundation held its 27th annual Beneficiary Beers & BBQ Banquet and Golf Outing June 13-14 in Decorah, Iowa. About 400 people attended this two-day event, including special guests from the Iowa State University men’s athletics program. Through this event, the Lynch Family Foundation raised approximately $350,000.

Foundation background

The Lynch Family Foundation was originally formed in 1996 to provide meals for individuals and build foster homes outside Chicago. It eventually became a multi-faceted nonprofit organization supporting other local and national nonprofit organizations. Today, the Foundation supports individuals in financial need due to economic, health or other related issues. It also makes regular donations to charities and programs that serve veterans, military members and their families, and charities that relieve food insecurity and promote health care services and housing support.

Since its inception, the Foundation has proudly distributed over $6 million to local and national nonprofits. It also hosts a variety of other charitable events throughout the year, such as an annual Veterans Day Supper for local veterans, military members and their families, an annual Christmas giving tree present drive for local families and an annual Christmas Eve dinner for local elderly individuals.

The Beneficiary Beers & BBQ Banquet and Golf Outing was established nearly two years after the Foundation was formed with the help of two former ISU coaches: men’s basketball coach Johnny Orr and football coach Dan McCarney. This two-day event was created to bring together Lynch Family Companies’ partners, customers, supporters and local community members from across the United States. The Foundation strives to make these two days purposeful through connection, a banquet, music, auction, golf and fun – all while raising money for the Lynch Family Foundation and other charities.

Special guests

Every year, the Lynch Family Foundation invites special guests and keynote speakers to the Beneficiary Beers & BBQ Banquet and Golf Outing. Many of these guests attend on behalf of their own charities and causes. This year, the Lynch Family Foundation welcomed two ISU coaches: football coach Matt Campbell and wrestling coach Kevin Dresser.

Special guests from previous years have included former NFL player Tim Tebow, former football player Chris Norton, veteran Travis Mills and NFL football coach Mike Zimmer.

Donations

All donations from the Beneficiary Beers & BBQ and Golf Outing go to the Lynch Family Foundation, which supports community nonprofits and people in need throughout the year. Many of their donations go to local charities, including American Legions, food banks and other organizations that aid military veterans and active-duty members and their families. Other recent initiatives that were supported by the Lynch Family Foundation include a $25,000 donation to the Chris Norton Foundation, which helps individuals with spinal cord and neuromuscular disabilities and a donation of spiraled hams and bacon to Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch, which supports individuals and families with cognitive and/or physical disabilities and military families.

The Lynch Family Foundation’s Beneficiary Beers and BBQ Banquet and Golf Outing is one of the many charitable events and initiatives the Foundation hosts to support their local community and other local and national charities each year.
